Election

I've read a book written by a Singaporean political analyst recently. The book explains the history of election. The summary of my understanding of the book are as follows:

1. The modern election that we see today was derived from the introduction of the new democracy system.

2. The monarchy system was replaced by democracy to control the people of a nation. As the population increases, the capability of the ruling throne to control his/her people decreases.

3. Other means to control the people is needed. Hence, democracy.

4. To establish democracy system, election is compulsory. The system itself was derived from a "people's voice" foundation. As is, election is to choose a leader based on people's choice.

5. Since democracy is purely people's vote / choice / opinions, thus it is guaranteed that the result of the election is what the majority people's want. Thus the minority's vote / choice / opinions will be set aside.

6. What will happen to this minority? Will the elected leader care about the minority's concern once he is on the throne? By listening to the minorities, the chance of the elected leader to lose votes from the majorities is terminal.

7. Does democracy is the ultimate way of ruling a nation?

8. Let's think and analyze together.
